IR Lens for Uncooled Cameras

SOC, Showa Optronics Company limited, is pleased to announce the release of thermal environment free infrared lenses for thermal cameras.
Since the production of near infrared lenses in 1950s, SOC has made a lot of efforts in custom optics specified by individual customer. Some of them are used in extreme severe environmental conditions for defense and space applications where the product reliability is significantly important. So far SOC has provided space borne optical components for satellites such as "Kaguya", "Hayabusa" and "Akatsuki" which are projects for research on lunar and planetary science in JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency). See the notes below for detail information. Now SOC will put on the market the following highly-reliable commercial lenses based on technologies cultivated in various applications.

SOC Space Borne Optics Activities

"Kaguya (Selene)" was a lunar orbiting satellite for scientific investigation. It was launched in September 2007 and it terminated the mission in June 2009. SOC developed a transmitting telescope and a Cassegrain receiving optics for a laser altimeter. SOC was awarded by JAXA for the contribution to "Kaguya" project.
"Hayabusa (Muses-C)" was an asteroid exploration spacecraft. It was launched in May 2003 and it returned earth in June 2010 bringing back a sample of asteroid "ITOKAWA". SOC developed a light weight and chromatic aberration free telescope using filtering technologies. SOC as a member of "Hayabusa" project support teams was awarded by Japanese Government.
"Akatsuki (Planet-C)" is the Venus climate orbiter. It was launched in May 2010 and is expected to enter the Venus orbit six years after the first trial in Dec. 2010. SOC provided an infrared lens for a thermal imager.
